Hatz has developed into a technology-open drive specialist in recent years. This also includes the collaborative development of electric drive systems. Hatz supports machine manufacturers with a modular system in realizing alternative drive concepts, and enables a holistic approach to sustainably optimize machines with new features.

Combining expertise in electrical engineering and applications

In 2021, Hatz acquired the Munich-based company Inecosys. Inecosys specializes in electronic controls and embedded software, and has since supported Hatz in the development of alternative drive systems. Connected with the decades of knowledge about the needs of machine manufacturers and operators from Hatz’s target industries, manufacturers of construction, municipal, agricultural, and power generation machines can rely on maximum competence in implementing innovative drive and machine concepts.

Inecosys brings short paths and rapid processes from the startup scene into the collaborative work with machine manufacturers, ensuring high implementation speed. Electronic components and software modules can be tailored developed or adapted to the machine’s requirements. Hatz provides competence in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, and structural mechanical simulation, as well as the capacities to enable series production of the desired drive systems. System simulation and optimization round out the customer offering.

Purpose Design Approach

Hatz works on the realization of electric drive systems according to the Purpose Design Approach. This approach focuses on utilizing all possibilities of the chosen drive technology for the machine. The machine is envisioned from the ground up and holistically. In this way, features can be realized that are not possible merely by replacing the engine technology, for instance, substituting an internal combustion engine with an electric motor.

The Modular System

Hatz demonstrates the highest level of development possible with the modular system through the Concept Cube. Hatz supports machine manufacturers in developing and implementing innovative and disruptive machine concepts with its own technological competence. The electric drive system provides the appropriate tools for this.

Concept Cube Study

The advantages of developing disruptive machine concepts based on the modular drive system are demonstrated by Hatz with the concept study "Concept Cube". Hatz has developed a novel drive system for this demonstration machine that expands the application of the "Vibrating Plate" with possibilities that were previously not realizable, such as cornering.
