Hatz diesel particulate filter systems are designed for long service life and typically regenerate automatically. However, over time, deposits form that clog the cells of the diesel particulate filter (DPF). Regeneration is then no longer possible. The consequences range from a decrease in engine performance to emergency operation or shutdown of the drive if maintenance is not carried out permanently. Cleaning the DPF is also an important prerequisite for emissions-compliant operation of the engines.

When does the diesel particulate filter need to be cleaned or replaced?

The interval is 4000 engine operating hours. Maintenance must be carried out at the latest upon reaching this value. Another sign that maintenance is needed: the engine is starting the DPF regeneration in increasingly shorter intervals. The regeneration of the diesel particulate filter inherently requires a higher load to achieve perfect results. Filters used in machines with low load should be checked regularly.

How is the particulate filter refurbished?

Not all combustion residues that the particulate filter traps during operation are burned off during regeneration. Therefore, a special DPF cleaning process is necessary.
