E1 Technology

Since the company's founding, it has been in our DNA to set milestones in engine technology. With the E1 technology, we are bringing single-cylinder engines into the connected future.

Electronic Control for Single-Cylinder Engines

With the world's first electronic control, single-cylinder engines benefit from a combination of proven robustness, reliability, and longevity with forward-looking electronic components that were previously only available for larger engines and machines.

The E1 technology is optimized for Hatz single-cylinder engines: it offers maximum functionality while maintaining robustness.

Customer Advantages:

  • Reduction of engine variants through customer-specific adjustment of the speed to match the application.
  • A digital target speed ensures exact adherence to the speed, regardless of environmental conditions.
  • Possibility of on-site and remote diagnostics with Hatz HDS².
  • Comfort functions through the Hatz control unit, e.g., starter and engine protection, automatic shutdown during excessive idling.
  • Enables digital services through data interface.
  • Meets emissions requirements according to EU Stage V and US EPA Tier 4 final

The Interaction of Mechanics and Electronics...

... optimizes the engine's operation on one hand and enables for the first time the holistic networking of small devices on the other. Interfaces to the control unit allow for data exchange at any time. Data transfer in both directions serves both the analysis of engine data and the uploading of new data, such as predefined engine speeds or software updates.

Numerous and widely used engines and machines that previously played no role in Industry 4.0 are now part of the digitalization strategy in companies.

Core Component of the E1 Technology: The Control Unit

Continuous measurements, such as engine speed and fuel injection, provide precise data about the engine's load condition.
In addition to engine control, the control unit provides engine-relevant data via CAN J1939. For example, usage duration and load or engine condition and service needs can be easily read. This interface also provides a convenient way to analyze the engine using the HDS² diagnostic tool.
